New book

There is a unique natural monument in Koytendag – Khodjapil plateau   with trails of dinosaurs.

There had been carried out field works for the purpose of studying of one of the largest sites of trails of dinosaurs by the national institute of deserts, vegetable and animal world of the Ministry of Agriculture and environmental protection of Turkmenistan in cooperation with university of Bologna (Italy) and the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan in 2011-2012.

Results of works have been published in English in the international magazine «Trails of plants and animals» (Ichnos) on 26-th of May 2013r (London).  

In Turkmenistan has been published a number of articles of one of participants of a research expedition Aman Nigarov, the well-known paleontologist of Turkmenistan, the senior research fellow of department of the Nature and   local lore of the State museum of the State cultural centre of Turkmenistan.

Now these articles are generalized by A.Nigarov in the separate book named “Dinosaurs of upper Jurassic period: new information on a site of trails in Eastern Turkmenistan” and are published in three languages.

In the book are analyzed the results of field works, where was determined   presence of trails of dinosaurs of two genus – Megalosauripus and Therangospodus.

Plateau of dinosaurs is  easily accessible both by  local residents and tourists, thereby it runs the danger of destruction, therefore A.Nigarov in his book suggests   measures aimed for protection of  this unique natural monument.
